Sleep Over at Nan's

The boys, Lachlan and Aiden (my grandsons) came over this afternoon ready for a sleep over at nan and pop’s house. It’s cold and raining so we stayed indoors and baked a cake for desert.

Tastes great
Happy little chappies..

They both helped and with great joy, licked the beaters as soon as the cake went into the oven. Pop helped with the jig saw puzzles while I cooked dinner. Then after dinner it was time to ice the cake and best of all eat it.

Brusha brusha brusha....
After watching a bit of foxtel and more puzzles it was time to brush teeth and get ready for bed. Tomorrow is another big day we are going to watch Lachlan play football. How exciting is that.....

At the quilters

I just got back from dropping off the 2 quilts, Busy Little Christmas Elves and The Night Before Christmas, at Lisa’s house to have quilted. Lisa from Fig n Berry Creations runs a long arm quilting service and also designs lovely patterns. On the way back home I stopped in at Gail B’s to buy some more red French General fabric to bind my Beautiful Life quilt. As usual I ended up with 2 more lots of red and 2 fat quarters of pale yellow fabric.

I really don’t need any more red, but oh well, I will find a use for it. The pale yellow will go into a baby charity quilt that I am working on. The weather has cleared a bit so I will go for a walk before it starts to rain again.

 All the stitcheries ready
to be appliqued.

ready to applique small 4 patch circles

I managed to piece the quilt top for Life is Beautiful. Then I cut my 4 ½” squares in half and joined these to make a border. Next I cut away the back of the stitchery 4 patch  blocks to use for my 4 patch small circles. I then appliqued the small circles on the four patch blocks. Now all that is left is for me to quilt.

The Night Before Christmas- Bunny Hill

The Night before Christmas Top finished
This certainly is my year for finishing projects. I have just finished putting the borders on my Night Before Christmas quilt, a few finishing touches and it’s off to the quilters. I started it just over nine months ago as a block of the month; time sure does fly when you are having fun....Tomorrow back to Life is Beautiful ,Mrs Billings,Raining Cats and Dogs,or Xmas Stitcheries ????

Oh before I forget happy Birthday John.

Ventnor Views

It’s been raining on and off for a few days now, but I must admit it is doing wonders for the garden. Not to mention I get a lot more stitching done when it’s raining.  I don’t venture into the garden or go on as many walks to the beach.

A few of us got together on Saturday and had a bag workshop.Their was a lot of work in the bag and lots of little blocks to join. We managed to piece it all together but didn't have time to make the lining or put the wadding in ,I must admit I wasn't very keen on the bag as I was putting it together, but when it was pieced and joined I couldn't wait to finish it.We also went over to see the ladies at the patches weekend quilt in.Every one was having a great time and most were very busy with their various projects.

WINDING WAYS
Early Friday morning 11 of us piled into 3 cars and left Phillip Island to begin our winding ways shop hop. Winding Ways is a shop hop involving a cluster of five shops.

Mrs Martin's Quilt Shop in Emerald, Craft Haven in Berwick, Sewing Connection in Pakenham, Patchwork Passion in Cranbourne and Craft Quarters on Kooweerup.
It runs throughout the month of May

Fabric purchased at Mrs Martin's

Simply spend $10.00 at each participating shop. Collect your Wild Goose Chase question sheet at the first shop you visit - there are 3 questions per shop. Have each shop sign the sheet before you leave. Drop the completed sheet at the last shop you visit. If you have answered all the questions correctly you will go into the draw for a weekend for you and 7 friends at the Beau Vue Craft Retreat. The weather held and we all enjoyed the day, good food, great company and best of all the shopping was fantastic. I came home with some new fabric, another Gail Pan Christmas pattern, treats and sweets Xmas pattern, needles cotton, and a lavender stitchery.

2 1/2"blocks cut and ready for piecing
Saturday I began cutting and piecing my busy little Christmas elves quilt. I am excited seeing the blocks go together at last. Most of the reds are left over from my dear Jane quilt and I am hoping they will blend into the Christmas theme.
Star block fabric cut and ready

Sunday morning was spent cleaning the house, catching up on phone calls and having friends over for coffee. After lunch we took the dogs for their walk and now I am ready to start some more sewing on my Christmas elves quilt. Happy stitching.
