The Stitching Girl Needle Book and Scissor Keep

I loved making The Stitching Girl Needle Book and Scissor Keep.

This pattern features threads, ric rac and cotton daisy felt. This is the first Cottage Garden Threads stitchery pattern. I have only just started to use their threads and love the colours, feel and short colour length of 2 to 3 inches especially for embroidery.

You may remember my blog at the quilters I bought pale yellow fabric. Well I finally made a little baby quilt top with it and other fabric I had. Our Monday night group make charity quilts for babies etc. I think this one will look pretty when quilted.
I took advantage of all the rain and caught up on some stitching projects.

Still Raining Monday

With all the rain we have been having there have been floods all over Victoria. Kooweerup was flooded again, The South Gippy was closed. For people heading south towards Korumburra, Wonthaggi or Phillip Island there was a significant detour in place via the Korumburra-Wonthaggi Road. It has rained most of the morning here (Ventnor Phillip Island) and into the afternoon.

Another Mariners Compass Quilt

Another Mariners Compass

I love this quilt based on Judy Mathieson Pulsar quilt from her book, Mariner's Compass Quilts Setting a New Course. The book covers everything from planning your quilt, drafting the patterns, selecting fabric and construction. I paper pieced the star, but changed the borders and used my own templates.

Catching up with Friends

I spent yesterday afternoon with my monthly stitching group. We meet at Shelley's house to stitch, chat, share tid bits of information, tell jokes and above all relax and enjoy ourselves .The best thing is there is always something new to learn or a new pattern to inspire. Being in the group allows you to catch up on some of your sewing projects while chatting with friends. We have lots of fun and it's a great way to spent an afternoon.

Life is Beautiful

Life is Beautiful made a little smaller to fit above the couch.

I am so glad it's finished, quilted and now hung. I made it a little smaller to fit the spot on the wall above the couch. I stitched the blocks with DMC variegated red and attached all the circles with needleturn appliqué. I used fabric range from Moda’s ‘Maison de Garance’ by French General.

Stitcheries and Theodora Cleave Buttons

I love these buttons and never get tired of making things using them. A little stitching and the projects are finished. Next week I will be starting on my Christmas Buttons. Every year I find myself wishing I'd started making the Christmas presents a bit earlier. Even the quickest of gifts take time when you do them in multiples for friends and family. Happy Stitching..

Lachlan at Auskick

Hi after watching Lachlan play football a couple of weeks ago I ended up with a nasty cold. I am feeling fine now and catching up with a few things that were in the pipeline. I am also starting some new projects, more news on that later.

Lachlan enjoying himself and learning how to play football.
