Mulberry Hill

I have also made a start on Mulberry Hill by fig'n'berry creations.I used French General fabric for  the houses, hill tops and flowers and Lynette Anderson fabrics for the birds. The wall hanging will measure 271/2" x 331/2" when finished. I am going with fusible applique technique ,using DMC single thread for the buttonhole applique stitch and also single thread for the stitcheries. .

I would also like to thank everyone for all the good wishes sent to my husband and to report he got the all clear from the eye and ear hospital on Friday (the lesions on the eye have completely healed.). He still has pain/numb feeling on the side of his face, but we have been told that it will take time for normal feeling to return.

Yoko Saito Update

Hello and welcome to all my new followers. This has been such a challenge working on my first Yoko Saito block. I was in a dilemma deciding on the colours, my first choice looked dark and the checks on the basket line crooked. So I pulled it out and started again taking care with the basket measuring and remeasuring. Slowly stitching and tacking care with the needle turn seam making I sure I didn't go over. Then the second part of the block on the right which should have been easy turned out quite difficult to stitch accurately as well. Finally here is the end result. Through trial and error I have learnt that working with woven fabric takes a lot more care with placement and stitching and to double and triple check placement. I am having a short break before starting the next block......

Mothers Day Project Old Lace Dilly Bag

Hello and Happy Mothers Day to everyone I hope you all have a wonderful day. Saturday I went to Shelley's house for our annual Mothers Day Project. We both started at 9.30 on our Old Lace Dilly Bag . We had both pre cut our fabrics to save time. Shelley surprised me with some lovely old napkins from her grandmothers box, which as Shelley said, she would like to know the napkins were appreciated and used in such a lovely project. So we sat down and cut the edges to use in our bags. Then she had some lovely old handkerchiefs that we cut out the corners. Carol joined us also but worked on her bag from last Mother's Day. Carin came later and worked on her scarf she is knitting. By 2.30 we had the bag sewn in a circumference ( including wading and lining ) ready to attach the base. We then got  in the car and visited the ladies at the patches Mother's Day weekend sew in to see what they were working on, Lots of lovely projects were being stitched together, too many to name. I arrived back home a out 4.30 tired but extremely happy with my project and the lovely day spent with friends. After dinner I set about  finishing the bag and I must say I am very happy with the result.

Mrs Billings Coverlet

I have decided to end my Mrs Billings Coverlet with this  border. I have thoroughly enjoyed my journey although at times I had trouble deciding fabric placement and choices of fabric.I am so pleased with this my first all hand pieced quilt. I am sending it to have professionally quilted, it measures 70 x 70 inches and has over 2300 pieces. I  was originally toying with the idea of trying to hand quilt it but at this size I am not sure I would ever finish it.

Scandinavian Rose Update

I hope everyone enjoyed stitching along last night. After a bit of sorting and tidying through my projects I sat down and started back on my Scandinavian Rose Quilt again. I have neglected her the last month mainly due to the fact that I wanted to get Mrs Billings to a border that I was happy to use as my final border.

Thanks Cheryll for organising us to stitch together again this month.

Hexagon Flowers

Wow I can't believe it but I have actually managed a couple of Hexies this week, a bit late posting but better late than has been very hectic here we are still going to the eye and ear hospital on a weekly basis as Jim is not much better, although there has been some improvement, but not enough for him to drive or help around the house. Hmmm makes me wonder I can't be mean especially when I see his face and dropping eyelid and lip. :-)
                      For now Happy stitching...........................
