Girls (shopping) Day Out

We're  back

My grand daughters came over from Adelaide for the school holidays . We spent the day shopping and searching through all the shops for that perfect outfit ha ha. With all the sales on that shouldn't have been hard, we stopped for lunch and the search continued but with teenage girls well...... finally Erin decided on the fluorescent jumper and black scarf and Lauren found the black dress and dusty pink cardigan..oh and I bought a $35.00 jumper so that I could get a scarf for $5.00 that I liked, makes sense doesn't it ........

Floral Bouquet Update

This is bock 2 of Floral Bouquet by Yoko Saito . I am slowly making progress and getting used to the woven fabrics. It is a different feel and look to the usual fabric I work with.
In the second photo I haven't stitched the two block together, as I may change my mind on the flower bud later. I will wait till I make a few more blocks before making  a final decision .
             Happy stitching........

Mrs Beasley Sampler Quilt

I have decided to join in Mrs Beasley's Sampler Quilt found in Vignette 10 - magazine. This will be one of my first Leanne Beasley projects, although I will be using a different range of fabrics. You guessed it French General by Moda. This afternoon I spent cutting out most of the fabric and hope to finish at the end of the week and then hopefully manage to put a block together.

Quilt Me Club 2013

L'Atelier Perdu
Campagne Francaise (French Countryside)
 Finished quilt size 1.20m x 1.45m

I have just finished the first block of French Countryside. I decided to stay with the same colour scheme as the original quilt, since that was what drew me to it. I am needle turning the applique pieces and piecing by hand so it will take me a little longer. I have enjoyed making this block and will look forward to my next block.
         Happy stitching.....?

My Flower Hexagons

Monday, June 3, 2013

This was a quick and fun weekend project using a technique I have never tried before and it didn't cost me anything. I had all the reds in my red stash and lucky enough to have just enough of the cream background. I found the pattern in Splendid Quilts magazine. It is the first in Esther Aliu's series of traditional motif-inspired vase wall hangings. The raw edge appliqué is quilted to finish with a slightly raised appearance. The technique I mentioned was the raw edge applique,I am pleased with the wall hanging, but don't think I will ever use that finish again, much preferring the traditional finishes.
