Raining Cats and Dogs

Another finish for 2013....
Raining Cats and Dogs by Bunny Hill came back from the quilters and I was so surprised with  Leonie"s quilting . The work she had achieved  is beautiful and much more than I expected. Unfortunately you can't really see it in the photos. I finished sewing the binding last night and added the buttons this morning while waiting for everyone to have their showers. Now it's time to take the boys for a walk before lunch...........Happy Easter...

Yoko Saito

I spent yesterday joining the pattern pieces for one of Yoko's quilts. I have chosen three quilts and decided to make a start when I finish Mrs Billings Coverlet. One is a Baltimore, one a Floral arrangement, and last Vases. I thought I would prepare the patterns first, then pick one to begin. At this point I am being pulled towards the Floral and Vases......

Yoko Saito Projects Fabric

My Japanese fabric  pack arrived for my new project, I was so excited as I was opening the package.I ordered the Japanese woven yarn dyed fabric also the Japanese Taupe yarn dyed fabric 4" pack. I wasn't disappointed, the colours are exactly what I had imagined and the texture of the fabric is so soft and lovely to touch.I am looking forward to working with these fabrics for the first time.
I have narrowed my choices down to three quilts designed by Yoko Saito that I hope to work on. But which will be first !!!!!!!

Yoko Saito Projects

I was surfing the web looking for inspiration when I came across books by Yoko Saito. Well needless to say I fell in love with her work and bought some of her books which arrived in the mail last week. I  also ordered some fabric which should arrive this coming week.My only problems will be deciding which project to start first and can I squeeze in another project.

Scandinavian Rose Quilt

<a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/5005249/?claim=pzt4n94hjfs">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>

Another block to add to my Scandinavian Rose Quilt. This is Pattern Three  block Five, with the cooler weather it has been lovely to sit and stitch with out feeling hot and sticky. I had a busy day yesterday with shopping, cleaning and going to support our school for their stop bullying day. I was surprised to read how many schools participated in the days activities.
Again the weeks are flying by and Easter is almost upon us, I must admit I haven't made any projects for Easter this year. I look forwarded to seeing all the lovely Easter projects everyone else has made, and perhaps get some ideas for next Easter.

Scandinavian Rose Quilt.

Scandinavian Rose Quilt

I had a lovely time stitching last night. It has been so hot the last couple of days that I have stayed inside and had more time for my sewing. I managed to cut out all the one and a half inch strips ready for piecing. Then the fun began in the evening joining and cross cutting to add them for my border around my finished stitchery blocks. It actually took longer than I thought but in the end I was pleased with the result. That completes blocks one and two of  Scandinavian Rose by Rosalie  Quinlan. Radka is also stitching this quilt but chose to stitch hers in a lovely shade of red thread Anchor stranded cotton no 13 you can check out her progress here at my stitching and other journeys.
Also I have just visited suzitee at stitch scap sew to view her lovely Scandinavian Rose blocks they are gorgeous if you would like to check them out just click on the link.

One Flower Wednesday

One Flower Wednesday
Another busy week, and the heat continues.,it has been hot with high humidity . Yesterday I was at one of my monthly meetings which started at 10.30 am. By lunch it was very hot and the flies started to arrive. This is the first time I remember flies at this meeting, we had to open doors and windows as there is no air conditioning. By 1.30 I left and came home to lovely air conditioning . I'm afraid I don't cope with the heat very well any more, gone are the days of sun baking and not worrying about the heat. Anyway when I sat down to make a few more flowers for my garden shock horror only eight papers left.Oh well I decided to make another off white and grey flower to match last weeks.

                                                    Happy stitching.................

Scrappy Pyramid Quilt

Ellen DeGeneres
Most comedy is based on getting a laugh at somebody else's expense. And I find that that's just a form of bullying in a major way. So I want to be an example that you can be funny and be kind, and make people laugh without hurting somebody else's feelings.

                                    SCRAPPY PYRAMID QUILT

I am slowly making headway with my Scrappy Pyramid Quilt. It is actually one of my favourite projects, probably because it is so straight forward. There are only three simple templates to pieces at this stage and I am quite happy to just take my time and enjoy the journey.

Another Bag

I can now show the bag I made for my very good friend Joan for her Birthday. we are going to the
Cuckoo Restaurant  in  Olinda today to celebrate her birthday where I will also give her a lovely craft/needlework box I made for her. Sorry I wrapped it before I remembered to take a photo of it.

FNSI
I finished stitching the last of the circles on to my table runner last night . Still using my left over French General fabric from Life is Beautiful quilt. This table runner has just about emptied the box of fabric from that range.
